I stumbled upon this pdf from Amy Butler. It describes some sewing terms and details how to perform them. This is a super handy reference. I'm going to start studying it now. :)

Sew Helpful!
To help me understand what tools I need and how to read a sewing pattern, I bought a book. It is Complete Photo Guide to Sewing: 1200 Full-Color How-to Photos. It has lots of photos. I hope it helps!
I've also purchased some fabric and sewing patterns for a skirt and for a dress. I'll be blogging along the way so keep checking back!
Also, if you have some experiences in sewing to share, add them to the comments or contact me.

Sew Me!
Wow! Sewing is much harder than I anticipated! For all those out there learning to sew mostly by teaching themselves (as opposed to a classroom setting or an awesome friend that has the patience to teach you every stitch of the way), I am writing this blog for you! I search the web forever at times to learn to do something that is probably very simple. Some people, as they teach, use terms that I don't know. Or it seems they skip steps that might be obvious to experience sewers, not me!
I hope to journal my sewing projects and new techiniques that I learn. I have a feeling I'll be journaling a lot of failures and frustration too!
